Broadcast News Analysts compile news stories from multiple different sources, and then synthesize, analyze, interpret, and broadcast stories to a large audience, sometimes across multiple different media. The first step of this process is to determine which stories are worth reporting. Sometimes, Broadcast News Analysts may examine news items themselves to find stories which have local, national, or international significance. In other cases, they may receive assignments from members of the editorial staff. Then, Analysts need to gather as much information as possible in order to develop different aspects and perspectives within a story. Methods may include conducting online research, interviews with eye-witnesses, observation of events in the real world, and even personal experience.
