One Myers-Briggs® Celebrity ISTJ Personality Type is super-investor and philanthropist Warren Buffett.

Examining his life and body of work shows how he personifies the qualities of the Myers-Briggs Test ISTJ Personality Type.

ISTJ Personality Types are strongly associated with a profound respect for facts. They utilize their Sensing preference and are known for being practical, sensible, and systematic. (Myers, CPP. 1998)

Warren Buffett is routinely listed as one of the richest men in the world, with good reason. He has applied his fact-based and systematic approach to investing, taking it to a whole new level. Warren Buffet follows a process of finding outstanding companies at a sensible price through an in-depth fundamental analysis. Similar to ISTJ Types, he focuses on proven methods and measurable results over intuition and future hunches.

ISTJ Personality Types are also known for communicating and expressing themselves using their Thinking preference. Once an ISTJ Type gathers the necessary information needed for the decision-making process through their Sensing preference, they utilize their Thinking preference to make a logical and objective decision. They often take a tough-minded approach, but also tend to be detached and reasonable when analyzing facts. (Myers, CPP. 1998)

Warren Buffet has always approached his acquisitions and investments in a very objective and logical manner, not allowing feelings, personal preferences, or biases to interfere with his choices. Through his holding company Berkshire Hathaway Inc., he has bought out companies such as GEICO, Dairy Queen, and Fruit of the Loom, and has made significant investments in companies such as The Coca-Cola Company, American Express, Wells Fargo, and IBM.

Sometimes, MBTI Test ISTJ Types can act from an overly detached and logical perspective, which can create conflict in situations where a more Feeling-based perspective may be appropriate. (Myers, CPP. 1998)

For better or for worse, Warren Buffett has decided to cut feelings and personal value evaluations out of many of his investment decisions. In some cases, this has led to public out-lash. During the subprime crisis of 2007-2008, Buffett ran into criticism regarding some of his investment strategies. His investment strategies through Berkshire Hathaway suffered a 77% drop in earnings during Q3 2007, and some of his investments are still suffering losses to this day. Warren Buffet’s reaction to the downturn was very typical of his type, and he called it “poetic justice.”

Actress and Famous Myers-Briggs ISTJ Personality Type Natalie Portman is far from your typical Hollywood starlet. Natalie Portman hit the mainstream when she was cast as Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, but unlike many actors that finally get a big break, she did not abandon her commitments. She skipped the premier of Star Wars: Episode 1 so that she could study for her high school finals, and even after making a big name for herself, she continued her education and received a degree from Harvard University. To Natalie Portman, education and knowledge was more important than stardom.

MBTI Test ISTJ Types are also known for strongly valuing traditions. Even though Natalie Portman currently lives in the United States, she was originally born in Jerusalem, Israel, and she finds her religion and the values it taught her important. Sean Connery was fortunate enough to be multi-talented as a young man, being gifted not only as an actor but also physically. He competed in bodybuilding as well as performed exceptionally in soccer. At the age of 23, he was offered a professional contract to play soccer. Most individuals would have jumped at the chance, but Sean Connery looked at things in a practical and realistic way, realizing most professional soccer players were over the hill by the age of 30 and he was looking for a longer-term career option.
