MBTI® Test INTJ Anesthesiologist
Strong Interest Inventory® General Occupational Theme Code: Investigative, Realistic, Social (IRS) (GOT)
Being satisfied and fitting well into medical professions, such as careers in anesthesiology, often require a certain Myers Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI® test) personality type whose talents meld well with the task at hand. With this in mind, it makes sense that an individual who possesses a logical, organized problem solving thought process, yet intuitive mindset, like that of an Introverted-Intuitive-Thinking-Judging (INTJ) Myers-Briggs test type would fit well in a position as an anesthesiologist.
An average day for an anesthesiologist could consist of a variety of tasks in a clinical or hospital setting, depending on what stage their patient is at. Depending on this information, these medical professionals would perform their duties before, during, or after surgery, involving supervising the patient while under the influence of anesthetics for any problems or negative responses that may occur due to the drugs. They must keep a detailed ledger of what was administered and the quantity of this, so that future anesthesiologists and surgeons will know what the patient is capable of handling. They also work with patients who are on life support to ensure that their vitals and airways are functioning properly. Anesthesiologists also provide guidance for the doctors and surgeons that they work with, letting them know if a patient is capable of handling more surgery, therapy, or even discharge.
Specialized tools and machinery are required for this position, and it is incredibly important that individuals are trained properly to use them. These apparatuses include catheters, cardiac machinery, anesthesia apparatuses, and various types of medical software necessary for monitoring patients’ biological processes. These types of software are also designed to share information among different professionals caring for patients. As a result, comfort using computers, tablets, and smartphones is also beneficial for anesthesiologists. That said, because the medical field changes so rapidly and new innovations are constantly being developed, anesthesiologists, like many healthcare providers, need to be able to learn rapidly on the job and be able to use new technologies quickly and confidently.
