To become adept at this occupation, geographers must be well versed in various tools, such as anemometers, sampling devices, microscopes, and a variety of software that aids them in their everyday duties. In addition, Geographers must also prove to hold extensive knowledge in the procedures and systems of geography, as well as a working knowledge in other subjects, such as mathematics, history and archeology. Other important skills include critical thinking, reading comprehension, and analytical reasoning. Geographers also often need to develop presentation skills, as they tend to work closely with other scientists, researchers, or engineers and may need to present their findings to others quickly, clearly, and concisely.
